WEEK 14 - July 27, 2014

 

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE RANGERS FOR THEIR UNDEFEATED REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!

The Rangers(12-0-1) overcame a 7-1 deficit, to defeat the Reds(9-1-1) 8-7 and wrap up the number one seed in the playoffs. Craig Quintal(5-0) got the victory in relief of Spencer Ott. Leading trey Rangers at the plate was Ralph Oster, 2-2, 3 RBI's. The Reds, who are the number two seed, were led at the plate by Mike Windham 2-3 2 RBI's, Jacques Jobert 2-3 2-2B RBI and Lowell Gauff 2-3.

 

Game 2 - WHITE SOX Defeat PHILLIES

The White Sox wrapped up the number three seed with their convincing 14-1 win over the Phillies. Mark Hampton pitched, 5 inning of shut out ball and went 3-3 2-2B HR and 4 RBI's. Other contributors were Dyron Morris 2-4 HR, Todd Le Bourgeois 3-4 2-2B, CASEY BAKER 3-3 2-RBI, and Chris Bell 2-3 2B RBI. Mike LeBeau 2-3 RBI led the Phillies at the plate.

 

GAME 3 - DODGERS DEFEAT TIGERS

The Dodgers defeated the Tigers 14-6 and will be the number four seed. Joey Brockhoff led the Dodgers at the plate going 3-5 3RBI's. Jimmy Barta (4-2) picked up the win. Other contributors to the Dodger cause were, Derek Cusick, Mike Wellmen, Wayne Messa, and Ryan Walsh all with 2 hits. Byron Addison 3-4, Billy Bourgeois 2-3 and
Tim Moffet 2-3 2B were the leaders for the Tigers.

 

GAME 4 - CUBS DEFEAT CARDINALS

The Cubs defeated the Cardinals 13-4 to pull into a tie for the fifth seed but lost the coin flip and will be the sixth seed. Booomer Newman 2-2 HR 3-RBI's, Rick Hudson 2-3 2-RBI's,
Ricky Plauche 2-3 were the leading hitters for the Cubs in their victory. DanLong 2-2 3B 2-RBI's, Boot Calderra 2-2 were the leaders for the Cards in defeat.

WEEK 12 - JULY 13, 2014

 

At St Charles - White Sox Shutout Cards

Dyron Morris (1-2) 6 IP and Mark Hampton 2 IP, combined on a 4 hit shutout as the Sox defeated the Cards 9-0. Mark Hampton set the tone with a 2 run double in the first. Dyron Morris struck out 4 on the mound and was the leading hitter going 2-4. The Sox improved to 6-5, while the Cards fell to 5-6.

 

Game 2 - Reds Score in Every Inning in Victory

The Reds scored 5 runs in every inning on way to their 20-1 victory over the Tigers. Top hitters for the Reds were Michael Windham 3-3 3B 5 RBI, Lowell Gauff 3-3 2-2B 2 RBI, Mike Lee 3-3 2B RBI, Robin Trouillier 3-3 RBI, Melvin Howard 3-3 2RBI, Terry Julien 3-3 RBI, and Lance Permillion 2-3 HR 2RBI. Daryl Ford went 2-2 for the Tigers. The Reds remained undefeated at 9-0-1, while the Tigers fell to 2-9.

 

At Bonnabel - Rangers Remain Undefeated

The Rangers broke a 2-2 tie with 4 runs in the second on way to their 12-4 victory over the Dodgers. Spencer Ott (6-0) started and picked up the victory. Fletcher Mackel threw 2 innings of relief striking out 3. Leaders for the Rangers were Howard Farmer 2-4, Craig Quintal 2-4 RBI, and Spencer Ott 2-4 2 RBI. Jeff Perez 2-4 RBI was top hitter for the Dodgers. The Rangers improved to 10-0-1, while the Dodgers fell to 5-5.

 

Game 2 - Cubs Score One in Ninth for Victory

Greg Cahill, who had reached on an error, came around to score the winning run with none out in the bottom of the ninth to give the Cubs a 4-3 victory over the Phillies. Paul Mancuso (3-3) picked up the win in relief of Gene Smoltz. Mancuso struck out 11 in 5 innings of work. Rick Hudson 2-4 led the Cubs at the plate. The Phillies who were limited to two hits led the game 3 times, but couldn't hold on to it. The Cubs improved to 4-6 while the Phillies remain winless.

WEEK 13 - July 20, 2014

 

St Charles - Tigers Defeat Phillies 10-2

John Paciera delivered a bases loaded 2 run double in the second to propel the Tigers to victory. Lloyd Bagnel (2-2) tossed the complete game victory. Bagnel 2-3 was the leader for the Tigers at the plate. The Phillies picked up their two runs on back-to-back doubles by Reginald Brown and Brandon StAmand. Other top hitters for the Phillies were Cyril St Cyr 3-3 and Mike Lebeau 2-3. The Tigers improved to 3-9.

 

Game 2 - Rangers Defeat Cubs 3-1

Craig Quintal (4-0) tossed a complete game 2 hitter striking out 10 giving up 1 run. Chip Loftin led off the 2nd with a double and came around to score on a Gene Smoltz single to give the Cubs the early lead 1-0. The Rangers would tie it up in the third with an Ernie Neves two out RBI single. They would take the lead in the fourth with back-to-back RBI doubles by Craig Quintal and Brian Kennedy. The Rangers remain undefeated at 11-0-1 while the Cubs fell to 4-7

 

At St. Charles - REDS DEFEAT SOX TO SET UP SHOWDOWN WITH RANGERS

The Reds scored in every inning on way to their 14-3 victory over the White Sox. Fred Alfred improved to 3-0 on the year. Ben Cannole, Brian Singleton, and Lowell Gauff, all had 2 its for the Reds. Gauff, Singleton, and Jacques Jobert each had 2 RBI. Lynn Brehm went 3 for 3, while Mark Hampton and Shannon Richards had 2 hits and a RBI for the Sox.

 

Rainouts

The DODGERS vs WHITE SOX and CARDS vs REDS were rained out. We will play one week of rainouts next week at ST CHARLES.
