Week 4 - April 13, 2014

 

At St Charles - RANGERS WIN

The Rangers improved 2-0-1 with their 20-0 win over the Tigers. Spencer Ott threw four shutout innings to pick up his second win of the season. Ernie Neves 4 for 5, 2- 2B, 5 RBI, Howard Farmer 3for 4 HR, 5 RBI, Scott Wagner 3 for 4 , and Spencer Ott 3 for 4 were the leading hitters for the Rangers. Angel Ramirez led the Tigers going 2 for 2 at the plate.

 

At Bonnabel - HAMPTON PITCHES AND HITS SOX TO VICTORY OVER CUBS

The Sox defeated the Cubs 16-7, behind the pitching, and hitting, of Mark Hampton. Hampton pitched 5 innings to pick up his first win and went 3 for 4 with a HR and 4 RBI at the plate. Other contributors of the 17 hit attack were, Jody Simoneaux, Eric Costa Dyron Morris, and Lynn Brehm each with two hits. Leading the Cubs at the plate was Greg Cahill with 3 RBI.

 

Game 2 - REDS SCORE RUN IN BOTTOM OF NINTH FOR VICTORY

Game two at Bonnabel featured the top match up of the week. The Reds and Dodgers faced off. The Dodgers and reds were knotted at 1 apiece heading to the bottom of the ninth. It took two batters for the game to be over. Ben Connole laced a double, to bring home Terry Julien, who had led off the inning with a single. Connole, tossed 2 innings to pick up the victory in relief of Fred Alfred. Alfred pitched 7 innings giving up 6 hits and 1 run. The Dodgers tied the game at 1 in the seventh on a Chris Rivette single. Derek Cusick suffered the loss for the Dodgers, throwing 8 innings and giving up 1 earned run.

 

AT SOUTHLAND - CARDINALS REMAIN UNDEFEATED

The Cardinals started fast and did not let up as they cruised to 16-0 victory over the Phillies. Bo Levett picked up his second win of the year for the Cardinals. Leading the Cards at the plate were Craig Robichaux 2 for 4, 3 RBI, and Steve Manor 2 for 3. Kelvin Lebeau and Neil Nedler each had a hit for the Phillies.

Week 2 - March 30, 2014

 

CUSIK PITCHES DODGERS TO SHUT OUT WINOVER TIGERS

Derek Cusick threw a 6 hit shutout, striking out 5 as the Dodgers blanked the Tigers 13-0. The Dodgers pounded out 15 hits and were led by Ed Vollenweider 3 for 5 rbi, Phil Wangerin 2 for 4 rbi, Jeff Perez 2 for 3 and Virgil Ladner with 3 rbi's. The lone bright spot for the Tigers was Byron Addison going 4 for 4. Bill Bourgeois took the loss for the Tigers.

 

SOX REBOUND BIG TO EVEN THEIR RECORD AT 1-1

The Sox scored early and often-in there 20-0 victory over the Phillies. Allen Rome picked up the victory tossing 3 shutout innings giving up 3 hits. Dyron Morris was the big man for the Sox on the day. Morris went 3 for 3 with 5 rbi and a Home Run. Other contributors at the plate were, Chris Bell 2 for 2 2 rbi, and Eric Costa 2 for 3 rbi,. Andre Jackson took the loss for the Phillies.

 

REDS SCORE LATE TO TIE RANGERS

The marquee matchup of the weekend had the Reds and the Ranges facing off in LaPlace. The Reds and Rangers battled to the last two outs to decide their game. The Rangers turned a 4-2-3 double play to salvage an 8-8 tie after blowing a 2 run lead going into the bottom of the eighth. The Rangers would open the scoring in the top of the first on a rbi single by Howard Farmer. The Reds would answer in the bottom half of the inning on a rbi single by Lowell Gauff. Mike Lee would shut down the Rangers and the Reds would pick up two runs along the way to take a 3-1 lead into the seventh. The rangers would finally get to Lee and score 4 runs on 5 it's the big blow being a 2 run single by Craig Quintil. The Reds would answer with 3 of their own, the big blow being a 3 run double by Michael Windham, to take a 6-5 lead to the 8th. The fireworks were not over yet. Lloyd Delahoussey would relive Lee in the 8th for the Reds. Delahoussey surrendered the lead to the Rangers despite striking out 4 and giving up 1 hit in the inning. Craig Quintil, came in in relif of Spencer Ott, gave up a 1 out rbi double to Mike Lee to tie the game. After a passed ball put the winning run 90 feet from home the rangers would turn in their gem play of the day. Albert Casey lined a one hopper to second and the rangers turned the 4-2-3 double play ot the end the game in a tie. Michael Windham was 2 for 3 with a double and 4 rbi's, Mike Lee was 3 for 4 with a double and rbi for the Reds. Leading the Rangers at the plate was Howard Farmer 3 for 4 2 and rbi, and Leo Leblanc 2 for 3 with an rbi.
