WEEK 6 - MAY 4, 2014

 

At St. Charles - REDS DEFEAT TIGERS

The Reds started fast scoring 4 runs in the first inning on 3 hits and a couple of Tiger errors. . The Reds would score at least one run in every inning, on way to their 15-1 victory in LaPlace. Leading the Reds at the plate were Michael Windham 3 for 5, 3B, 3 RBI, Mike Lee 3 for 3 2 RBI, Rickey Philibert 2 for 4, 2B, RBI, Robin Troullier 2 for 3, 2 RBI and Terry Julien 2 for 3. Mike Lee picked up his first win of the year going 5 innings giving up 6 hits and 1 unearned run. The Tigers were led at the plate by Jerry Nelson 2 for 3, 2B and Bill Bourgeois 2 for 3. The Reds move into a tie with Rangers at 4-0-1. While the Tigers fall to 0-5.

 

At Southland - SIMONEAUX AND COSTA LEAD SOX TO VICTORY

The White Sox pounded out 16 hits and defeated the Cardinals 14-8 down in Houma. The Sox scored 3 in the first, the big blow being a 2 run double by Eric Costa. The Cards would answer with 2 runs in the bottom of the first. The Cards would score a run in the bottom of the third to make it 5-3. The Sox would blow it open in the fourth with 5 runs on 5 hits. Mark Hampton pitched a complete game, to pick up his third victory without a loss. Leading the Cards at the plate were Rusty Tripp 2 for 4, 2 RBI, and Jay Ledet 2 for 2. The Sox improved to 4-1, 4 game winning streak, while the Cards, 2 game losing streak, fell to 3-2.

 

At Bonnabel - RANGERS DEFEAT DODGERS TO REMAIN ATOP OF THE STANDINGS

Spencer Ott and Craig Quintal combined on a 6 hit shutout, as the Rangers defeated the Dodgers 7-0. Ott, improved to 3-0, tossing 6 innings giving up 6 hits and striking out 6. Quintal threw 2 innings, striking out 4. Jimmy Barta, 2-1, took the loss for the Dodgers. Leading the Rangers at the plate were Nathaniel Greene 3 for 4, 3 RBI and Howard Farmer 2 for 4, RBI. Ryan Walsh picked up 2 hits for the Dodgers. who fell to 3-2 on the season.

 

Game 2 - CUBS ERUPT FOR 23 RUNS

Cubs score 5 runs in 4 of 6 innings as they defeat the Phillies 23-9 and earn their first win of the season. Boomer Newman 4 hits, 4 2B's, 2 RBI, Rick Hudson 3 for4, 2B, 4 RBI, Greg Cahill 3 for 3, 4 RBI, Rickey Plauche 3 for 4, RBI, and Paul Mancuso 3 for 4, 2B, 2 RBI, led the Cubs. The Cubs pounded out a season high 22 hits and scored a season high 23 runs. Paul Mancuso picked up the win in relief of Gene Schmaltz. Rudy St. Amand 2 for 3, 2 RBI, Kelvin Lebeau, 3 for 3, led the Phillies at the plate.

Week 5 - April 27, 2014

 

At Bonnabel - REDS REMAIN UNBEATEN

The first game at Bonnabel had the Reds,3-0-1, defeating the Cubs,0-4, 12-5. The Reds scored 5 runs in the second on 3 its and 4 errors and 1 run in the fifth to take a 6-1 lead. The Cubs made a game of it in the top of the sixth; scoring 4 runs, the big hit being a Greg Cahill 2 run single. The Reds answered in there half of the sixth with 5 runs on 5 hits. Leading the Reds at the plate were, Mike Windham, Lowell Gauff, Mike Lee, Brian Singleton, Terry Julien, and Melvin Howard all with 2 hits. Boomer Newman had 3 hits and Steve Schneck had 2 hits for the Cubs. Fred Alford picked up the win for the Reds while Paul Mancuso took the lost for the Cubs.

 

Game 2 - DODGERS ERUPT IN SEVENTH TO DEFEAT PHILLIES

Game two at Bonnabel was a pitchers duel for 6 innings. Both pitchers, Cyril St Cyr and Jimmy Barta, had surrendered two runs. The Dodgers sent 11 men to the plate in the seventh and scored six runs on 5 hits and 3 errors to take a 8-2 lead. Derek Cusick had a two run double in the inning, to break the game open. Jimmy Barta tossed the complete game, 7 innings, to pick up his 2nd win of the season. Leading hitters for the, Dodgers were, Reggie Lane 3 for 4, 2 RBI, and Glenn Tatum 2 for 4. Cyril St Cyr ahd 2 hits for the Phillies. The Dodgers improved to 3-1, while the Phillies fell to 0-4.

 

At St Charles - LEBLANC DOUBLES IN WINNING RUN IN EIGHTH FOR RANGERS WIN

The Rangers scored 3 runs with two out in the eighth to knock the Cardinals from the ranks of the unbeaten. Craig Quintal picked up the win in relief of Spencer Ott. Bo Levett took the loss for the Cardinals. The Rangers were down 5-3 heading to the eighth. Ralph Oster led off with a single. With two outs Howard Farmer doubled in Oster. Quintal then singled in Farmer to tie the game up. Leo LeBlanc then delivered the game winning double to keep the Rangers undefeated. Leading the Cardinals at the plate were, Dan Long 2 hits, 2 RBI, Steve Manor 2 hits, RBI, Craig Robichaux, and Anthony Hebert with two hits each. The Rangers are tied with the Reds at 3-0-1 at the top of the standings. While the Cardinals are in a tie with the Dodgers at 3-1.

 

Game 2 - SOX SCORE 5 RUNS IN THE SIXTH FOR WIN

In the second game at SCC, the White Sox scored 5 in the bottom of the sixth to top the Tigers 13-8. The White Sox scored their 5 runs on 4 hits and 1 error. Top hitters for the Sox were, Dyron Morris2 for 4 , 2 RBI, Luke Suarez 2 for 3, RBI, Casey Baker 2 for 3, RBI and Chris Bell 2 for 3. Mark Hampton picked up his second win for the Sox (3-1). Lolyd Bagnell took the loss for the Tigers (0-4) Top hitter for the Tigers was Earl Scioneaux 2 for 3, RBI.
